Boxtopia’s TV Debut on Emmerdale

Boxtopia have successfully produced a range of bespoke boxes for ITV’s Emmerdale, which were used as props to represent deliveries from Moira Dingle's Meat Farm Factory.
In July 2023, Boxtopia received an unexpected but exciting call. The inquiry came from none other than the props department of Emmerdale, one of Britain’s longest-running and most beloved soap operas.
Recognising Boxtopia’s ability to produce high-quality, custom-made cardboard boxes, the team reached out to explore a collaboration. It marked the beginning of a creative partnership that underscored the company’s capability to meet unique demands with professionalism and precision.
When Emmerdale approached Boxtopia for custom packaging, they had clear specifications in mind. The team required strong, durable boxes with printed designs on all four sides as well as the top. One key aspect of this project was ensuring precise alignment for the printed designs. This offered a unique opportunity for Boxtopia to showcase its expertise in creating bespoke cardboard boxes exactly to the customers specifications.
Achieving these requirements required multiple iterations of the artwork, with Boxtopia taking great care to refine the design by running test prints on the corrugated cardboard material until it met the requirements of Emmerdale.
One of the notable challenges was accommodating edge-to-edge printing, a service not typically offered by Boxtopia. However, Boxtopia’s focus on producing a quality result ensured the Emmerdale team were fully satisfied with the print before proceeding to full production.
Boxtopia produced a range of bespoke boxes that included 0201 brown double-wall boxes in two dimensions—600 x 400 x 300 mm and 600 x 400 x 200 mm—as well as 0300 white single-wall boxes measuring 590 x 390 x 150 mm.
Boxtopia initially produced 25 boxes of each size. These boxes were designed as props, used to represent deliveries from Moira Dingle’s Meat Farm Factory on the show, blending into the production environment. What’s more, this partnership is ongoing, with Boxtopia set to provide replacement boxes as needed.
The boxes made their debut in the episode of Emmerdale first broadcast on 4th September 2024 and have been featuring since.
While this collaboration with Emmerdale has not yet led to additional inquiries from the entertainment industry, it represents an exciting milestone for Boxtopia. It’s an excellent showcase of the company’s potential to work on more projects within television, film, and beyond.
